Welcome to the blog, my place of reflection, of thoughts, well actually at times of rambles and musings really. I've done a blog off and on for a number of years but it's always been separate from my main site until now. Finally I get to fully integrate everything in one place and it's really quite exciting.
I make no promises of revelations or incredible insight, no certainty that things will make sense or even be spelled correctly for that matter. I can guarantee that they are all my own thoughts (as far as I'm aware) and I will do my best to not besmirch anyone (well not too much) and not to just blog for no apparent reason other than of course i want to get something off my chest or it amuses me.... it may even from time to time amuse you, hey and if it does you can comment on the site and / or on facebook or any number of places... go one, you know you want to read more....
So tonight we had Parents Night at Kindie, Parents Night for a 2 year old.... I never would have thought it, until I became a Dad, then what can I say, I've been looking forward to it with excitement and trepidation.
Trepidation I guess because I still remember parents night when I was a kid and waiting on Mum & Dad coming home from the school and giving us a review of the discussions... they were never terrible but there was certainly (on my part at least) a chunk of well he could try harder in some area's... or If only he'd study and so on, non of which conducive to a relaxing night, still I did ok.
Surely kindie reports would be different, well as it turns out being the one on the other side of the table is good for a start but it's also really cool hearing someone else tell you how great your wee girl is, who doesn't love that!
So turns out she's settling into the new room with some bigger kids, really getting out there in the play area and pushing the boundaries. Now I take Emily to the park all the time and she's obsessed with the swings, after that she loves climbing up ladders to get to a slide and if it's possible to go down backwards or on her tummy well that's cool. So when they say pushing boundaries i think they may well mean she needs a safety net soon!
she's smart, understands what your say, uses words all the time you think where did that come from and how did you use it in the right way... for instance Actually... she's really fond of Actually... as well as 'You go girl!' or lately (and it's my fault) deal.. make you a deal....
Apparently she can be a little stubborn, doesn't get that from me, honest! She loves playing outside, but if the teacher asks her to go outside... oh no, not on! lol...
She loves colours and apparently knows all the colours, which we thought was normal but apparently not, not all of them anyway! and is good at holding a conversation with you, don't get me wrong, it's not going to be an out and out debate... but sometimes it's not far off!
in summary, a smart wee girl doing all the things a 2 year old should be doing, including the tantrums lol...I have to say, i left feeling very very proud of my wee daughter (she knows she's my daughter and can explain this to kindie!)... hope we have lots more parents night like this, although to be honest, even if they go down hill, I'm still looking forward to them all.
